Information about the publisher:
"Erker", in the German art scene one finds that name very often,
sometimes as a publisher, as a gallery and as a print shop.
Jürg Janett and Franz Larese, both start 1958 in St. Gallen (Switzerland) the Gallery "Im Erker",
later renamed as "Erker Galerie". In "Erker Verlag" they publish all kind of books related
to art: art books, artists books and catalog raisonnés.
In 1968 the "Erker Presse" is added, a printing workshop for lithographs,
in which the artists could let run wild their creativity .
The comprehensive program includes artists of great fame:
Bill, Brodsky, Capogrossi, Chadwick, Chillida, Cioran, Dix, Dorazio,
Dürrenmatt, heirs, Fussmann, Hartung, Holy, Huchel, Ionesco, disciples,
Jorn, Lam, Laxness, Magnelli, Manzù, Mitscherlich, Motherwell, Nay, Piene,
Poliakoff, Pound, Santomaso, Stadler, Tàpies, Tobey, Uecker, Ungaretti,
Verheyen, Weiler, Winter, Wotruba, Zadkine.
Among the artists the "Erker meeting" (1974-1987) were particularly popular,
a unique, highly valued opportunity to exchange with each other.
2014 the company closed after 56 years of activity.
